I moved to Portbury with my husband and 2 children in 1979 who knew we’d still be here 44 years later. I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mum but trained to be the village youth leader for a few years and also worked at the village playground. I returned to the workforce in 1988, I joined an International recruitment company in a part time role but progressed quickly and my final role was as Operations Manger with responsibility for legal compliance, IT Systems, all sales support across all offices, a very full and varied role reporting directly to the Board Directors. I retired in 2016 and with time on my hands was keen to get involved with Village Life, eventually joining the Parish Council in 2018. It’s very interesting, feels worthwhile, can be very frustrating but when as a collective we achieve change for good it’s just brilliant. If you love our Village and want to help and try and make a difference I recommend joining the Parish Council, young or old we all have something to give!
